Why This Certification Matters

Many of the world’s best dive sites either require or strongly recommend Advanced Open Water certification due to depth, conditions, or complexity.

Examples of Dives That Benefit from Advanced Certification:

• Deep wall dives in Cozumel – Drift diving along dramatic drop-offs
• Blue Hole in Belize – Depths exceeding 100 feet
• Wreck dives in the Caribbean – Exploring sunken ships at deeper depths
• Shark dives in the Bahamas – Often conducted beyond Open Water limits
• Night dives in Bonaire – Require comfort, buoyancy, and situational awareness

Without Advanced certification, you may be limited in where you can dive—or miss out on some of the most iconic underwater experiences.

What you’ll learn:

This course is all about building confidence through real-world diving, not classroom-heavy instruction or testing.  Class sizes are kept small, four (4) students maximum for safety and quality, private classes are available.

The Advanced Open Water course is structured around five adventure dives, typically completed over two days. There’s minimal classroom work, and much of the learning happens in the water.

Two core dives are required:

• Deep Dive – Learn how to safely explore depths up to 100 feet
• Underwater Navigation – Improve your ability to navigate using a compass and natural references

You’ll then choose three additional adventure dives based on your interests, such as:

• Peak Performance Buoyancy
• Night Diving
• Drift Diving
• Wreck Diving
• Boat Diving
• and more
